Pineapple Love! Q4YT

The Pin
For this week's Q4YT (Quote for you Tuesday) I want to share a quote that I recently discovered on Pinterest and has been my mantra because it relates to my life in many ways.  Let's get into it!

When I was in the 8th grade at 14 years old,my friend Rebekah called me a pineapple because I have many blonde moments and I am a brunette. Pineapples have been my favorite ever since, not just because of the saying, but because they are delicious. I love me a good pineapple all year round in all forms. When I saw this quote I fell in love with it.

With that being said, stand tall and be sweet!

Summer Q4YT

Yesterday was officially the first day of summer and I am in full summer mode. Sidenote: It kind of sucks because, officially I have two more weeks of summer vacation then I am back to the books to finish getting the last few classes of my TESL ( Teaching English as a Second Language) endorsement. However, today I wanted to share with you one of my favorite summer quotes.

Pin
I feel like summer for me is always trying to do big projects around the house that are never possible with a busy schedule during the other 9 months of the year. The sun can change a mood and it helps to have some pink on. I guess the moral of this quote that I am trying to get at is it's summer and there is a lot of opportunity for more play less work.

Forgive & Let Go (Q4YT)

Hey Friends,

Happy Tuesday, Happy Quote day. A little bit ago I had a falling out with a co worker over something really simple that a "I'm sorry" should have fixed, however that was not the case. I spent my sunday googling tips and tricks on how to work with someone that doesn't like you. The tips were great and all,but I didn't find them all that applicable and I was extremely sad that I had to go to work. On my drive this morning, I had to give myself a Pep Talk (as I do with a lot of things) and something popped into my head. I had made like Elsa and let it go,but I was still holding onto it and it was probably hurting me more than the coworker I had the issue with.

The quote below popped into my head and I felt a sense of peace and calmness that I wouldn't have felt if I just stuck with letting go.

Holding on to anger is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die. -Buddha.:
The Pin
The biggest lesson I learned from this was to let it go and forget about it because I don't want to poison myself with anger over something that has no effect over me today.

I hope that next time you are angry you can remember this quote and feel a sense of peace and calmness as well.

Take Kimmy's Advice (Q4YT)

Welcome to Q4YT (Quote For You Tuesday)!  This past weekend I finished Season 2 of the Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, if you have Netflix I definitely  recommend watching the show. It was written by Tina Fey and is hilarious.
However, despite the laughs there are some good life lessons in the show to be learned one being:

I love this quote, I believe its from Season 1/Episode 1. This quote kind of symbolizes something that has been near and dear to my heart which is be yourself, but more importantly YOU DO YOU! I appreciate the fact that there is more to just being yourself. More than just doing you is doing it and becoming Unbreakable. Google defines the word unbreakable as not being able to break easily, I define the word as being strong. I know I'm going to take Kimmy's advice. Are you?

Back & Ready to stay!

Hello internet, I have neglected you for a while #fulltimecollegestudent. However, I am back to my little corner on the net and I am quite excited.

When I first started this blog almost 3 years ago it was intended for me to share awkward stories of my life, when I realized my life isn't as awkward as I thought (still awkward at times) I thought I would change things up a little bit,but I still want to be consistent with my original plans of this blog sharing stories, quotes, and music.

I started out with the goal to share a positive quote every Tuesday, because when I started this blog Tuesday always felt worse than Monday and it was a way for me to feel some hope to make it through the day and the rest of my week. Needless to say Q for You Tuesday will be a thing that continues. I also plan on continuing with posting about music on Thursdays because I believe that music can be powerful and allow a lot of emotions to be explored. Other days Monday, Wednesday, and Friday's will be filled with other fun stuff (lifestyle related)
I am so excited to be back and posting weekly.

Even In the Snow There Is Sun

:)
Source

Pretty sure this is my favorite quote from Lily Pulitzer. Today I woke up with snow on the ground. Though it is March and seriously Utah has had the best no winter that there ever was until today. SNOW EVERYWHERE! As I dreaded the drive to work, what takes 10 mins took 30 and it was not fun. I realized that it is okay that the weather sucks, it should not have to ruin my mood at all. So today even in the snow I am in a sunny state of mind and happy to be alive.

How are you feeling today? Don't let the weather get you down.

Get Truly Connected

While spending countless hours of my evening scrolling through social media. Leah of EatPrayWearLove posted a really nice tweet about being connected that got me thinking.

After a quick chat with Leah (on twitter, go figure) the last word should be connecting.
Make more sense now? I hope so :)

The amount of time that we as humans spend connected to our devices is quite a lot. I am the first to admit that I am guilty as charged for this. I started to realize that liking someones status is not enough to truly connect and bond with someone. It's all about proper communication.

Here are 4 ways that you can really be connected with loved ones.

1. Put the phone away.
I know that when I am with friends or family I always feel the need to keep my phone in hand to text someone back right away. I am going to stop doing this because those texts can wait it's more important to be active with those you are with.

2. Grab the phone and call someone rather than a text.
Sometimes people need a happy smile and laugh to enjoy rather than an "lol" or ":)" It's always real conversation with someone that helps you connect on a personal level.

3. Visit your friends and family or invite them to join along with you and your activities.
I think this one is a little self explanatory, make some fun memories out side of the internet.

4. Send snail mail.
Out of all these ideas, this one has to be my favorite. I know the incredible feeling of heading out to your mailbox and finding some lovely words on a fancy paper and I like to share this feelings with friends.

I challenge and encourage you to get truly connected with those you care about. It's okay to be social on social media, but not every second.

Every One Is Beautiful

"Every girl is beautiful. Sometimes it just takes the right guy to see it." The Notebook
Source
Take a quick second to change the word girl to the word one, change the word guy to person then re read the above quote. I came across this quote the other day while doing my usual scroll of social media and it got me thinking. I am sure we are all a bit familiar with the saying "Beauty is in the eye of the beholder." There is some form of beauty in everyone and it takes the right eye and person to see it. Take a minute to look at the beauty in others around you even if that is the last thing you want to do. I am going to start looking for the beauty in all people, yes even strangers that I come across along with family and friends that I love dearly. I would like you to do the same. Let's face it we have all thought some mean things about our own or others beauty. Let's stop that and look for beauty in everyone.

How Much Does Kindness Cost?

It is often assumed that in order to share kindness large amounts of money need to be poured out into something extravagant. This is just an assumption that can only be looked to sometimes. The most important part of kindness is to take the time to just be kind.

always be kind
Source
I was extremely inspired when my aunt told me a story about her son and the lawn mower. My cousin, who had already spent hours mowing my grandparents lawn made sure that he stopped and mowed this elderly ladies yard when she was out mowing it.

My Uncle Billy is a huge example of kindness whether he is just sending qick text message wishing his friends and family a good day or he is finding someway to help those in need. I am inspired by all the love and help he provides for anyone who asks or doesn't ask. One day he gave about $20.00 to a pregnant woman that was in a bit of a rut. I am inspired by the love and kindness he gives without expecting anything in return.

My Best Friend spent six hours of his time making sure that the blog you are currently reading looks amazing. Now that is kind.

The MLL (More Love Letters) community. I know I have mentioned this before, but it truly is inspiring to write a letter with some kind and loving words to a stranger to help them feel loved and supported. I encourage you to check out the website, grab a pen and a piece of paper and get writing. I know that I have enjoyed the writing and am glad to know that I have helped someone in need.

Most importantly, kindness to someone can be such a thing like holding the door and sharing a smile with someone. A simple smile or "Hello, I hope you are having a good day." can make a huge difference in someones day.

I hope you make the time to be kind today and even later.

Today I was reminded

After a long weekend of agony and a start of a week from ( well, you know the place). Finals week and added stress do not mix people they do not mix. We all know the feeling when we get stuck in a rut where we feel as if we are the only ones having problems. You know what I mean?  Well today I was reminded and hit a reality check that I am not the only one. Who would have thought? Being stuck in my own situation I didn't look past to others feelings as well as my own.

There are others that have struggles far beyond my own. I was reminded of the faith that I need to have in God in order to stand strong. The #mondaypeptalk was a real thing for me today. As I searched this hashtag on Instagram piles of inspiration and reminders came in that helped me remember to breathe take a relax and nothing is to hard to overcome in the end.

I was also reminded of this quote that I found on Pinterest and it didn't make sense until now. And its a great reminded to do my best because that is all that I have.

A simple reminder.

Coffee? Flowers? You got it!

too many times we don't take the time to slow down and enjoy life.... but think of everything you've missed
Source
I don't know if it is the cute flower or the cup of coffee that made me fall in love with this quote. Well, actually I do know why I love it. It's the message. I had to tell myself that I don't have to do it all today. With finals coming up sooner than ever and my To-Do list growing longer and longer each day. I realized I don't have to do it all today or right this second (not that I am saying to procrastinate) stop and have a relaxing drink and smell the flowers. It is time to live a little less stressed. I encourage you to do the same. Enjoy the journey of the day, week, month, and even the year.

Chill!!

*deep breath*

When I came across this quote it was just one of those things that I knew I needed to read. Although I already am an adult and well,I really do need to figure out my career. (Become a Lawyer or a Teacher?) I am still young and there are so many possibilities for me and I need to refrain from stress and worry to just relax. I will become a true adult with a nice degree and a job that I need to attend everyday (not that I don't attend a job everyday anyway, but you get the point. After all this blah, blah, blah I have given you point is I need to relax because this girl will grow up when she needs to.

Talk Smart

start a conversation that matters
Pin It

We are all familar with the converstation that looks a lot like this:
A: Hey
B: Hi
A: What's up?
B: Not Much
A: Oh
B: You?
A: Not much
B:Cool
If that conversation put you to sleep-WAKE UP!

Point is don't be boring people,be brave and talk about things that you find interesting, exciting,or wonderful. Put no limits on what you can explore conversing with others.

You Are You

Maybe its my love for Gossip Girl, maybe its my love for inspiration,or maybe it is both. I saw this quote and loved it.
Yes

The quote is a little self explanatory, however I think it is something that is very important to remember. You should never have to apologize for how you are naturally. Some of us are touched and cry over a lot of little things and even the big things. (AKA Me). It's important to remember that if it touches you to the point of tears or an over whelming feeling it is important. Caring is what makes us human, ans showing that we care is a sign of strength. Next time you hit a sensitive or emotional moment think about it,you are never weak unless you are afraid to face how you are feeling by maintaining  a careless attitude.

Love It & It Will Love You

Today, while I putting in my volunteer hours also known as having fun with 5th Graders. The question for today was , "If you could change one thing about your life what would it be?" I was shocked that so many of these 11 year old students would not change anything about their lives. Life is so perfect at a young age. I started to feel a tad bit envious, well because as an adult life is no longer full of perfect bliss all the time and there is more worry than getting a in a fight with your friend over a pencil. (Bad example? Maybe, but you catch my drift right?) Anyway, while I was waiting my turn to answer this question I couldn't think of anything that I would change in my life either. Is my life as perfect as the lives of these bratty 5th graders? Far from it. My life is as perfect for me as it can get and I am okay with that.

I found this quote on Pinterest ( I love Lily Pulitzer prints hint hint) and it suits everything I have been thinking today and need to think everyday. Love your life and it will love you right back.

Watch It

Ain't that the truth. Have you ever noticed that when you do think somethings they end up coming out like word vomit you can't control? Have you ever noticed that sometimes when you say things that you're going to do or not going to do,you do them? Have you ever realized that activities are addicting and become a natural thing you always do? Well,I have. Sometimes thoughts are great enough to let slip or sometimes you end up saying the most wrong thing. If watching shows on Netflix causes you to stay up til 2 am.  on a Saturday night to finish a season of a show you just can't get enough of ( The Vampire Diaries) you will do the same thing the next Saturday til you finally finish the show. So,in reality these things are not all that terrible, however somethings can be. I think its important to note that the things you say and do will define your life. I encourage you all to watch what you say and do. Think to yourself,is this really necessary? It's okay to say yes,on occasion.

Keep Calm: It All Works Out

School starts in a week and I already freaking out. Not that I am not excited for what this semester has to offer. So, I didn't make my last semester an easy one. (Why did I do that?) I came across this quote on (you guessed it) pinterest and my first thought was 'Oh Yeah... I kind of forgot that.' So in case you forgot here is a little reminder. It all works out in the end,and it doesn't hurt to put your trust in God. For he knows that what you are doing is what you need to be doing.
